Talking about mental health isn't easy, but a conversation has the power to change lives.
Asking questions can give the person space to express what's going on for them. Ask open questions such as,“How does that affect you?” or “What does it feel like?”.
Try to resist the urge to offer quick fixes. Just talking can be really powerful, so unless they’ve asked for advice directly, it might be best just to listen.

Telephone Counselling is as Effective as Face-to-Face
A recent research study indicates that, "...similar clinical outcomes can be achieved via the telephone as are obtained in face-to-face [therapy]".
Furthermore, the alliance between therapist and client, as well as levels of empathy, attentiveness, participation and openess, are equivalent as in face-to-face therapy.

For convenience I can offer telephone counselling sessions, as necessary and where appropriate, having completed specialist telephone training.
